Halifax-bred indie rockers Monomyth delivered their latest LP, Happy Pop Family, last year, and now they've unveiled a new clip for a track off that very album.
The video for "Cool Blue Hello" serves as a mirror image of sorts, delivering an inverted version of their previously shared video for "Aloha." Whereas the latter delivered surf-inspired summer time-travelling fun (at the dump), the "Cool Blue Hello" video takes viewers through the same story — but set in wintertime. Travelling back in time to December 1922 (rather than July), the bandmates swap surfboards for skis and snowsuits for another trip to the dump.
Speaking about the meaning behind the song itself, the band's Josh Salter tells Exclaim!:
This song was an attempt at emotional honesty and catharsis through art. Sometimes when you are alone you notice the desire lines drawn in the sand and realize others have walked the same path before you. If you are lucky you also notice when those lines are washed away with a rogue wave. Just don't let the salt water ruin your suedes.
