Alexisonfire and City and Colour's homecoming concert series Born & Raised is only a matter of weeks away, and they've just had a last-minute addition in the form of Switcheroo pals Moneen.
The Brampton alt-rockers announced their Canada Day slot today on social media, explaining that they were honoured to be tapping in for Elliott, who will no longer be performing for reasons unknown as of press time:
We are filling the time slot where beloved [Elliott] would have been playing. We were really looking forward to seeing them play. Like, big time. In 1999 when we were a baby band and had barely played out of the Toronto area we took a road trip to see Elliott play in Buffalo, NY. We were so inspired and left that show with another acetate blueprint to layer upon our other influences and inspirations. We left that show with wind in our sails and the vibe of "Wow, we could really do this!" And here we are… still very much doing this.
So thank you to Elliott and we hope to fill your absence with the energy and passion that you would have brought us. Hope to see you play soon. xo
Filling out the roster for July 1 are Dallas Green's City and Colour, Broken Social Scene and Wade MacNeil's Dooms Children — what a lineup!
