Mondo Issues 'Mud' Soundtrack with Lucero, Dirty Three, David Wingo

Over the years, the venerable Mondo imprint has delivered a number of soundtracks for films of various vintage and genre. Next up, they're celebrating the Arkansas-set fugitive/buddy drama Mud with a double LP score featuring work from Americana group Lucero, composer David Wingo and more.

While CD and digital editions of the soundtrack had arrived through Lakeshore when the Jeff Nichols-directed flick hit screens in 2013, Mondo will deliver the vinyl version this Thursday (March 10). It'll feature a host of selections from film score figure and Explosions in the Sky collaborator David Wingo (Manglehorn, Prince Avalanche) as well as material from Nichols' brother Ben and his band Lucero. Also appearing are two cuts from Australian post-rock group Dirty Three's Cinder LP ("This Night," "In Fall").

Mud stars Matthew McConaughey as a fugitive that befriends a pair of boys that help him try to reconnect with an old love (Reese Witherspoon). In addition to a four-song sampler of its soundtrack, you'll find a movie trailer for Mud down below.

The Mondo package features specially curated artwork from Tomer Hanuka, which you can see up above, and liner notes that include interviews with director Nichols and Wingo. The double LP set arrives in a limited edition press of 200 copies on "Juniper Blue"-coloured wax, as well as on traditional black vinyl.

The arrival of the Mondo-backed Mud soundtrack arrives a week ahead of Nichols' new movie, Midnight Special. That film also features a score from Wingo, and hits theatres March 18.
