I was at Milk Music's first NXNE show at Parts and Labour on Wednesday night, and I was admittedly somewhat underwhelmed. The Olympia, WA band, however, seemed to step up their game for show number two, burning strong and confidently through their Garrison set for a crowd that filled up quickly once they hit the stage. Milk Music still appeared almost as happy to be jamming with each other as they did to be enticing the audience, but the apparent good vibes shared between the band members easily rubbed off on the enthusiastic crowd. At one point singer Alex Coxen began playing his guitar behind his head. That move might be a little bit played out, but it seemed entirely appropriate in the spirit of carefree enjoyment. Milk Music are clearly having fun with each other on stage and tonight, it certainly didn't seem like intentional neglect of the crowd, but more of an invitation to join in on the party.
