This weekend, Metallica take over Montreal to play the first Canadian shows of their ongoing world tour behind 72 Seasons — dates which will go ahead despite a highway crash involving a truck loaded with the band's gear and equipment.

Reports first emerged Monday (August 7) of a collision between a car carrier and a tractor trailer in Lake George, NY, causing multiple secondary crashes and leading to the temporary closure of the roadway. NEWS10 ABC reported that according to New York State Police, no one was injured in the crash.

As footage of the accident began circulating on social media, it was later confirmed by music journalist Mitch Lafon that the tractor trailer was hauling gear for Metallica. Lafon also shared an update from Montreal music industry figure Mat Paré, who shared that pieces of lighting equipment damaged in the accident were swiftly replaced with new units.

Concert organizers would later confirm with Le Journal de Québec that the accident had no effect on Metallica's Montreal performances set for tonight and Sunday (August 13), both of which will go ahead as scheduled at Olympic Stadium.

Metallica kicked off the North American leg of their world tour in East Rutherford, NJ, last week. Following this weekend's performances in Montreal — their first shows in Canada since 2018 — the only other tour stops the band have booked in the country at this time come in Edmonton on August 23 and 25 — meaning Toronto will be waiting a little longer.

@sammiebaby966 The truck carring the band equipment for Metallica was involved in a pretty bad crash yesterday. Thankfully nobody involved was hurt. One of the worst crashes I've seen! #crash #metallica #interstate #newyork #omg #godisgood #angelwatchingover #viral #trucks #upstatenewyork #accident ♬ original sound - ✨☆𝕊𝕒𝕞𝕒𝕟𝕥𝕙𝕒 𝕁𝕠☆✨
