Members of New York gothic metal favourites Type O Negative and New Orleans sludge metallers Crowbar have formed a new supergroup.

Dubbed Eye Am, the newly unveiled project brings Type O Negative's Kenny Hickey (guitar/vocals) and Johnny Kelly (drums) together with Crowbar constant Kirk Windstein and that band's former bassist Todd Strange.

Shots of the four musicians at work in the studio were shared via Type O Negative's Facebook page, with the post noting that the project's first single is being recorded with Less Than Jake bassist Roger Lima at his Moathouse Recording Studio in Gainesville, FL.

Type O Negative disbanded in 2010 following the death of frontman Peter Steele. The band's seventh and final album, 2007's Dead Again, is due to be reissued in May via Nuclear Blast.

Windstein and Crowbar returned last year with Zero and Below, the first album from the project since 2016's The Serpent Only Lies.
