Mastodon's Brann Dailor Announces '101 Clowns of the Coronavirus' Art Book

BY Allie GregoryPublished Sep 3, 2021

Mastodon drummer, singer and songwriter Brann Dailor has teamed with Revolver for a deranged new book birthed from the coronavirus pandemic. The 100-plus page coffee table book is comprised of 101 days worth of, uh, clown drawings, and it's out today.

Yes, the 101 Clowns of the Coronavirus hardcover art book is made entirely of sketches hand-drawn by Dailor throughout the pandemic. As Revolver notes, the artist drew a different clown every day and "texted it to a star-studded mailing list of friends and family members. Some recipients were humoured. Others were terrified."

Some of those A-listers have also contributed commentary to the release. Sean Ono Lennon, Metallica's Lars Ulrich, Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, Deftones' Chino Moreno and more penned forewords for the limited-edition book, which is available to order now

"The clowns kept me from spiralling out during all the uncertainty," Dailor told Revolver. "They kept me from sinking into a deep depression or experiencing crippling anxiety. The clowns were perfect for that — even the dark ones."
