Marillion

Live From Cadogan Hall

BY Sean PalmerstonPublished Apr 5, 2011

In 2009, veteran UK prog rockers Marillion made a huge left turn, choosing to do an acoustic album and tour. Instead of the typical unplugged thing, they hunkered down in their studio, pulled apart a number of their songs and reassembled them using non-typical instrumentation like hammered dulcimer, metallophone and table harp. Live From Cadogan Hall captures the final show of the tour that followed, filmed live just before Christmas that year at the beautiful, old London, UK venue. Split into two discs, this impeccably shot concert features the band doing the Less is More album on the first disc and an entirely different second set on the latter. This sit down, intimate offering may not win the band over many new fans, but it is a spine-tingling affair for those already well versed in the band's 30-year career.
