Helping spread some needed holiday cheer this year will be none other than Mariah Carey, who has just announced she's doing her own Christmas special for Apple TV+.
The festive program will be called Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special, and it is described as an "innovative special" that will mix music, dancing and animation "driven by a universally heartwarming story that brings the world together," according to a press release.
The special also promises "a star-studded lineup of surprise guest appearances, in a magical holiday journey to enliven the Christmas spirit around the world."
Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special comes as Carey keeps celebrating the 25th anniversary of her first holiday album, 1994's Merry Christmas, which, of course, gave the world the iconic hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You."
Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special will be executive produced by Carey, Ian Stewart, Raj Kapoor and Ashley Edens for production company Done + Dusted, which previously helmed John Legend's A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy. Done + Dusted's Hamish Hamilton (A Very Murray Christmas) will direct.
So far, no firm premiere date for Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special has been revealed.
News of the special comes as Carey readies The Rarities, which will arrive on October 2 via Sony Legacy. Her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey also arrives on September 29.
