After topping Hollywood's Black List of unproduced scripts last year, Elyse Hollander's Madonna biopic Blond Ambition has found a home at Universal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael De Luca (Fifty Shades of Grey) is set to produce alongside Brett Ratner's RatPac Entertainment and John Zaozirny of Bellevue Productions. The script marks Hollander's writing debut, having previously worked as an assistant to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu on 2014's Birdman.
The film will follow Madonna at work on her debut album in 1980s New York, while also navigating fame, romance, and a music industry that views women as disposal.
At this point, it's unclear when Blond Ambition may be hitting the big screen.
UPDATE (4/25, 4 p.m. EDT): Madonna has now emerged to comment on the upcoming biopic, and she seems less than pleased. In fact, she wrote, "Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen.
