Hollywood's Top Unproduced Scripts Follow Madonna, George Harrison, Eric Clapton

BY Josiah HughesPublished Dec 12, 2016

Along with awards nominations, film buffs also spend the end of the year drooling over what could've been. For the 12th year running, film executives have voted on their favourite unproduced screenplays to establish the Black List.

As always, it's another collection of strange, compelling works that sound unique in their own strange ways.

Topping the list is Blond Ambition, a film that follows the early days of Madonna's career. Written by Elyse Hollander, it's the sort of pitch that seems inevitable to get made one day.

She's not the only musician on the list, however. There are two films about the Beatles' George Harrison. Revolver tells the story of a teen girl who attempted to lose her virginity to the Beatle in 1966. Layla... and Other Assorted Love Songs tells the story of a love triangle involving Harrison, Eric Clapton and Pattie Boyd.

There are, strangely, two films about Stephen King trying to complete novels, and one that seems to poke fun at oft-ridiculed screenwriter Max Landis. There's also a script from Mindy Kaling.

Check out the top entries below, and read the full list here.
