Over the years, Mac DeMarco has amassed quite the collection of recording gear — he told us so earlier this year, speaking about his "insane studio in L.A." full of preamps, converters and vintage Neumann microphones. So when he took up residence at Vancouver's hub for audio innovation, Lobe Studio, in June, studio magic was bound to happen.
What's resulted from that stint is the newly announced special event in celebration of his 2023 instrumental album Five Easy Hot Dogs — a reimagining of the album using cutting-edge 4DSOUND technology.
With Lobe boasting a 36-channel spatial sound system, an array of omnidirectional speakers and vibrational transducers, the studio will present an immersive Five Easy Hot Dogs experience in spatial audio — with each instrument and stem given its own pathway in space — from September 5 to 10.
The event promises an "unprecedented spatialization process," imparting "a mesmerizing orbit to every sound, rendering a fully immersive encounter that transcends the boundaries between live and recorded music."
Tickets for Mac DeMarco's Lobe Artist Residency Series are on sale now via Eventbrite for $20 plus tax and fees. Get yours here.
