Lower's stage setup is remarkably similar to that of friends and fellow Copenhagen band Iceage. The members stand almost disinterestedly on stage, typically staring downwards, while frontman Adrian Toubro takes full responsibility for engaging the crowd. Punk music coming out of Copenhagen at the moment seems steeped in darkness and anguish, and Lower are no exception. The audience was hit with a barrage of post-hardcore, including tracks from Lower's 2012 EP Walk On Heads, and the band seemed to produce a shrill wall of sound that wanted to pin us to the floor. Toubro had an enigmatically menacing stage presence, often looking just as he does on the cover of Walk On Heads. Copenhagen has been described lately as the new hotbed of hardcore music and the home of the hottest new underground music scene. If that indeed is the case, Lower certainly make it sound exciting.
