The Black Eyed Peas and Will.i.am have built themselves quite the history of plagiarism accusations these past few years, and the latest against the group comes from Lone and R&S Records.
Today, the storied electronic label pointed out on Twitter that the Peas' recently released "Constant Part 1 & 2" samples a section of Lone's "Airglow Fires" without permission. "Sound familiar?," they asked, before calling BEP "total ripoff merchants."
Speaking with Resident Advisor, an R&S spokesperson said, "no one from The Black Eyed Peas or their label has contacted R&S or Warp Publishing." Lone added his own two cents on Twitter, writing "black eyed me's."
"I was actually made aware of the tune a few weeks back when my manager sent me a link to the video," Lone told RA in an email. "Needless to say it put me off my breakfast... I mean, you've gotta laugh really, but that's a total rip-off, no question."
"Airglow Fires" was initially released as a single in 2013 before appearing on Lone's 2014 LP Reality Testing. He's recently been rolling out tracks from a fourth Ambivert Tools EP set to arrive October 12.
You can compare the two tracks for yourself in the players below, with the sample in question appearing at 2:41 in the BEP video.
