Loma Prieta Announce 'Self Portrait' LP for Deathwish Inc.

Get ready to take a good hard look at California hardcore band Loma Prieta, because the long-running act have just announced a new full-length titled Self Portrait lands this fall. The seemingly self-reflective collection hits digital retailers October 2 through Deathwish Inc., while vinyl copies are expected to land November 13.

A press release notes that the record, the band's first full-length since 2012's I.V., was tracked with Jack Shirley at Palo Alto, CA's Atomic Garden Recording Studio. The set is said to feature plenty of distortion-driven tracks that layer "unorthodox melodies amid a tangle of pensive, despondent vocals."

The album's reported complex and emotional results were inspired by various vintage hardcore acts from the Bay Area, including Mohinder, Funeral Diner, Bread and Circuits, Yaphet Kotto, and Indian Summer.

While previews from the platter have yet to go live, the album's "Love" will also act as the A-side to an upcoming 7-inch release through Deathwish Inc. The vinyl single hits store July 24 and comes with an exclusive B-side titled "Trilogy, 0 (Debris)."

Loma Prieta's summer plans also include a European tour that includes shows with Touche Amore and Dangers. You'll find the full itinerary over here.
