Moody California hardcore crew Loma Prieta have fully revealed their Self Portrait a week earlier than we'd anticipated. While the album officially lands digitally and on CD next Friday (October 2), with a vinyl release slotted for November 13, you can sample all of the action now through an online stream.
"Love" locks into a melancholy groove from the jump, with saddened six-strings shimmering above slam-jammed drums and fierce cries about being "diseased." Elsewhere, "Black Square" pieces together jarring, discordant guitars with twinned cries and hammer-down drum damage. "Nostalgia" features a pleasant, decidedly poppier chorus than much of the record, but it still plays plenty powerful and chaotic by song's end.
You can sample all of the band's Self Portrait down below, while commercial copies go live next week via Deathwish Inc.
