Liam Gallagher Named His Son After Gene Simmons, According to Gene Simmons

I'm sure you've heard it all before, but you never really had a doubt

It's a tale as old as time itself: you gush about your unabashed love of "Wonderwall" to Liam Gallagher and the former Oasis bandleader returns the favour by saying you're the namesake of his first-born child.

This is apparently a true story — minus the first-born part, but that sounded mythological — that happened to the unmistakable KISS tongue-waggler Gene Simmons, according to a new interview with Metal Hammer Magazine.

"I remember meeting Liam Gallagher once as he was checking in to a hotel in Pittsburgh," the rocker recounted to interviewer Rich Hobson [via Louder]. "And I go over like, 'Hey, I'm a big fan – I really love "Wonderwall,"'"

Simmons continued: "We start talking and he's like, 'We love you too – I named one of my children after you,'" seemingly referring to youngest son Gene of Gallagher's four kids. The non-KISS Gene is 20 years old, while the singer-songwriter and parka enthusiast is also father to Molly (age 23), Lennon (22) and Gemma (9), all of whom were born to different women.

Now, Gallagher has historically said that he named his son after iconic jazz drummer Gene Krupa, but why can't both be true? Though it should probably also be said that, much like Dave Grohl, Simmons is a noted liar: he debatably claimed that Oasis are not legends back in 2020, to which the British musician tweeted "Fuck him[,] the tart" in response.

Okay, so the storyline between these two is getting increasingly hard to follow, but at least it's even sillier than Gallagher's infamous feud with his twin brother Noel. The former recently sided with Taylor Swift following her Damon Albarn diss and teamed up with the aforementioned (fellow liar?) Grohl on new single "Everything's Electric."
