KISS are finally bringing their End of the Road World Tour to a close this year, after announcing it in 2018 and initially planning to end it in 2021.
Bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons explained in an interview with the Australian news show The Sunday Project that this time they are really calling it quits, wanting to leave the stage while they're still at their peak.
"At a certain point, Mother Nature takes over no matter what your plans are," said Simmons. "At a certain time, you've gotta have the dignity and pride but also the love and admiration of your fans to know when it's time to call it quits."
Comparing the band's longevity to that of athletes, Simmons expressed his desire to avoid overstaying their welcome.
"We introduce ourselves with, 'You wanted the best, you got the best — the hottest band in the world.' I don't wanna be in one of those bands where the fans just say, 'Oh, you should have seen them back in 1804 when they were really rocking,'" he said. "Right here, right now, either be a champion or get off the stage. So we're gonna quit while the quitting's good — while we're on top."
Their final tour is ongoing and includes nine Canadian dates. Check the full schedule below.
