Lee Fields packed Amigos Cantina to the rafters for his sweat-powered soul as the festival weekend drew to a close. It was all sweat and smiles, with hundreds of people happily packed onto the small dance floor, or standing on tables to get a better view.

Lee took the stage sporting a white suit jacket with black trim, after backing band the Expressions warmed up the crowd. "Are you happy tonight? This is some happy shit," he said, as the band slid into the soulful "Just Can't Win," from his most recent record, Emma Jean.

This was one of those rare shows that will linger on long after the music's done. The joy was palpable. People came to get down, and their energy was matched by Fields. As the night progressed, he started shedding layers, dripping and wailing into the finale "Faithful Man," from the 2012 record of the same name. He walked off stage and was guided through the crowd. The band continued to jam, and eventually Lee returned for an encore, now bare-bellied with the white jacket over his shoulders — sweaty and glorious like the rest of us.
