Newfoundland's Lawnya Vawnya is returning to action for its 13th edition this June, and organizers have revealed the lineup of their 2023 event.
Taking place from June 7 to 10 in downtown St. John's, the festival will welcome Cakes Da Killa, Bria, Cecile Believe, Aquakultre, Regularfantasy, Bonnie Trash, Cedric Noel, Crossed Wires, HRT, Mother Tongues, Vince the Messenger and Wampums to the provincial capital.
Of course, plenty of homegrown talent is also found in the lineup, with Bazooka, Brandon Monkey Fingers, El Toro, Greta & the Goldfish, Hot Gum, Nico Paulo, Peter Lannon, Sick Puppy, So Violento, SSSLO and Thandi Marie set to take part.
Interdisciplinary offerings and performances by Barbra Bardot, Elijah Janka, Georgia Webber, Hazel Eckert, Kate Lahey, Lavender Blonde, Madame Daddy, Newfound Lad and the Fix Its have also been lined up, in addition to readings from Toronto-based journalist, activist and author Desmond Cole and contributors to Riddle Fence magazine.
Additionally, Lawnya Vawnya will play host to a screening of Buffy Sainte-Marie: Carry It On from director Madison Thomas, as well as panel discussions, workshops, artist talks, a two-day record and press fair, pop-up shows, and a music crawl through the heart of the city.
