Kiesza, by far, garnered the biggest response at the Rifftop Tent on Saturday. Whether it was the need to move away from indie acts tied down by their guitars, or that those in attendance just harbour a secret love of choreographed dance routines, the crowd was massive and attentive, giving the Calgary native an outstanding reception.
Infiltrating the music industry professionally a few years ago, Kiesza has quickly become a recognized name in the dance scene. Her brand of nostalgic '90s-bred music, polished to a shine and launched into this decade, is topped and brought to life with a voice that could bring you to your knees. With an insatiable energy and an incredible stage presence, Kiesza and her back-up dancers dominated the stage with moves like walking hand stands, and kept the level of crowd engagement high — even taking phones from those in the crowd and filming the show from an onstage perspective. Kiesza threw a bit of a twist into the set with her gritty Jack Ü collaboration "Take Ü There," but, of course, the set closed with her massive hit "Hideaway."
