After numerous delays, Hedley singer Jacob Hoggard's sexual assault case is finally going to trial. Jury selection is set to begin today in Toronto.

Back in 2018, Hoggard was charged with sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm. The preliminary hearing was pushed back multiple times in 2018, and he finally pleaded not guilty in 2019. The trial was then due to begin in January 2021, but Hoggard requested a delay after he changed counsel. Since then, the pandemic resulted in multiple delays, and a May 2022 start was finally determined back in January of this year.

Now, it seems that the trial is finally beginning. It's set to run until early June, per the Canadian Press.

The charges involve two people, a woman and a teenager, and concern alleged incidents dating back to 2016. Police began investigating Hoggard after women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct. Hedley continued touring after the allegations came out, but they went on indefinite hiatus in 2018.
