Following news that Toronto police were investigating numerous sexual assault allegations involving Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard, the singer has now been arrested and charged.

The Toronto police issued a press release confirming that 34-year-old Hoggard was arrested today. He was charged with sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm. As explained by the Criminal Code, "sexual interference" applies to sexual acts performed on a person under the age of 16.

According to the press release, Hoggard met with two women on separate occasions over the course of three days in 2016. He is said to have committed sexual assault in all three incidents.

Hoggard is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday (July 26).

Police state that they are concerned there may be other victims and are asking anyone who may have more information to contact police at 416-808-7474, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.222tips.com.

These are the first official charges laid against the Hedley frontman. Earlier this year, various sexual misconduct allegations surfaced against Hoggard, including rape allegations against the singer brought forward by a 24-year-old Ottawa woman in a CBC article.
