Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard pleaded not guilty to various sexual assault charges today in a Toronto court.
On Thursday (July 11), the 35-year-old singer began his preliminary hearing to determine whether he will stand trial. At the hearing, Hoggard requested the case be heard by a judge and jury if it indeed goes to trial.
The hearing is expected to take two days. It comes after Hoggard was arrested this summer and charged with one count of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm.
Three separate incidents allegedly occurred in the Toronto area in 2016, involving a woman and a girl under the age of 16. The names of the alleged victims have not been released and are protected under a publication ban.
Hoggard attended the hearing alongside his wife, Canadian actress Rebekah Asselstine, whom he married on New Year's Eve and in the wake of the charges against the singer.
As previously reported, Hoggard's hearing was delayed multiple times.
