If ODB is the Clan’s clown, then Inspectah Deck is its working class hero. As well as being one of the last original members to release a solo effort, he is also one of the sharpest lyricists. His talent for creating vivid scenarios is displayed on single “Word On the Street” and the subway seduction of “Lovin’ You.” In skills mode, he rides the robust horns of “Movas & Shakers” and “R.E.C. Room” and taps his didactic side on “Elevation” and “Show And Prove.” While conceptually and lyrically sound, Deck lacks the beats to elevate his varied approaches, a fact most evident on the ironically sluggish “The Grand Prix” and has too many cameos from unknowns that don’t add anything to the proceedings.
