Incantation

The longstanding Incantation are pioneers of the NYC death metal scene, along with Suffocation, Immolation and Malignancy. And even though they have relocated to Pennsylvania, the band maintain their classic NYC attitude, which is carried on by founder/vocalist/guitarist John McEntee. Vanquish in Vengeance is Incantation's eighth studio album and their highly anticipated follow-up to 2006's Primordial Domination. Vanquish in Vengeance features more of what Incantation have become known for: a mix of vicious, fast-paced shredding and crushingly heavy riffs anchored by McEntee's guttural vocals. An ominous, demonic atmosphere is layered over Vanquish in Vengeance, as "Ascend into the Eternal" contains a sinister guitar solo and highlight "Profound Loathing" takes a slow, doom approach to the band's classic death metal. Throughout this release, which clocks in at over 50 minutes, Incantation retain their trademark dark, unholy lyrical approach, with the concept for Vanquish in Vengeance being a world enslaved by a monotheistic dogma that only an apocalypse can save, which is quite fitting for a late 2012 release.
