Vancouver dance pop duo Humans' energy is infectious. Standing in front of a bank of synths and effects units, they started grooving immediately, and the crowd quickly followed suit. The second track had the flavour of a native Canadian chant with its refrain of "Let me go." Mixing four-on-the-floor dynamics and an indie pop sensibility, Humans' music is simple and catchy, and as performers, they are a lot more energized than many electronic performers. Some tastefully restrained, minimal visuals from Hybridity label owner Malcolm Levy lent an extra point of interest, as did some live guitar work on their third track. While a good performance, it didn't quite capture the strength of their recorded work, but hopefully that will change in time. The indie-rock-turned-electronic horse is definitely well out of the stable and racing at full speed down the track.
