Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Jayda G, PUP, Amanda Marshall, Allison Russell

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Jun 9, 2023

As Smashmouth once put it, my world's on fire — how 'bout yours? And sure, they were right about it not being boring, but I'm definitely not a fan. If you also prefer your heat to be in the realm of bops, bangers and scorchers, then look no further: the week's best new Canadian music has some less-frightening fire.

It's been a big week! We unveiled our new Exclaim! cover starAllison Russell, who announced her new album, The Returner. Your dawgs in PUP also shared some outtakes from last year's THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND.

Album releases were also stacked, with new LPs from Jayda G (Guy), Pantayo (Ang Pagdaloy), Dead Quiet (IV) and TEKE::TEKE (Hagata), as well as Amanda Marshall's big comeback, Heavy Lifting.

Everybody is feeling very collaborative, too — Drake teams with J Hus, and emmersonHALL and fanclubwallet go back to school, while Grimes and Anyma get operatic. Fucked Up and the Halluci Nation — as well as Vivek Shraya and Donovan Woods — rail against the nazis and colonizers, respectively, while Dizzy hold each other "Close."

There's all that and so much more to explore The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters —all Canadian and proud of it!
