Hear a Snippet from Beach House's First-Ever Film Score

The Baltimore duo crafted the music for Netflix's 'Along for the Ride'

Last month, Beach House shared that they'd created their first-ever film score for Sofia Alvarez's teen romance Along for the Ride, which is based on the 2009 book of the same name by Sarah Dessen.

The news came alongside the film's first official trailer, but that trailer didn't actually feature any of the duo's score. Today, Netflix has shared a clip of the movie, which does in fact feature some Beach House, and you can listen to it below.

The one-minute-and-thirty-second clip is titled "Insomnia" and features some thrumming guitar, warm organ tones and sparkling synth. Sounds a lot like Beach House!

Director Sofia Alvarez said in a statement about the band's score:

Along for the Ride is a movie about teenage insomniacs with much of the action taking place at night. Beach House's dream pop sound is so lucid and nostalgic with an emotional current that buzzes through your body while you listen to it—all things, I was hoping, the movie would evoke as well. It felt like such a perfect fit to me that I would have been devastated if they had not wanted to work on it. Thankfully, they watched an early cut of the film and loved it, allowing me to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Along for the Ride hits Netflix this Friday, May 6. Currently, it appears there aren't any plans to release an actual soundtrack of Beach House's score, but that may come in time. The band shared their latest album, the massive Once Twice Melody, in February.
