Get into Spring with Hannah Georgas, Roky Erickson, Flying Lotus, Cancer Bats and More in Exclaim!'s May Issue

BY Tanisha WhitePublished May 6, 2010

May has arrived with seasonal flowers intact, and as an added bonus, so too has the new issue of Exclaim!, which is currently hitting the streets all across Canada. You can also find its full contents online here, and as always, there is a lot in store.

On the cover this month is the talented Hannah Georgas. This Vancouver-based singer-songwriter has been flying just below the radar, but just wait until the rest of Canada finally catches up with her.

In this month's Questionnaire, you will find half of Cheech and Chong, Tommy Chong, who fills us in on what he's currently up to besides "his personal, experimental marijuana project." In our Timeline section, we take a look at Roky Erickson's musical journey as one of America's most influential rock'n'roll musicians, as he travelled from the fame of the 13th Floor Elevators to a solo artist recording with the Aliens and Okkervil River.

And as usual, our Points section offers up a bevy of articles on such artists as Flying Lotus, Little Brother, Pack A.D., Cancer Bats, Little Women, and Plants and Animals.

In Music School, this month, we learn the metrics of the music business in Measures and Scales, and have a quick chat with Vanessa Thomas, the managing director of Nielsen Entertainment Canada.

And as some extra online content, this month's Conversations kick off with quite the interesting Q&A from Courtney Love and a more coherent one from Black Tambourine.

Last but not least, we've also printed our annual Festival Guide, so you can figure out which fests are worth the sunburn.

Lots more reviews, articles and interviews can be found at Exclaim.ca, so bookmark the page if you haven't already. For the full list of what's new and exciting in the May issue, check out the May contents page.
