Fully Down

No Fate… But What We Make For Ourselves

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Aug 1, 2004

Metal-tinged pop punk that’s played without a hint of irony pervades this debut by Ottawa’s the Fully Down. Varying from full-on emo to pure Maiden-esque riffage, the band’s songs are as powerful as the musicianship that backs them up. Though sometimes their varying influence become a little too distilled — a punk song here, a metal song here, and an emo song there — when everything comes together, the band truly shines. It’s no wonder they landed themselves a spot on this year’s Warped Tour through an Alternative Press-sponsored contest simply through the strength of this release. From pop hooks to duelling guitars, No Fate offers up something tasty to the punk rock table.
