The Famines Frontman Documents Edmonton's Music History with Massive 26-Foot Chart

As a prolific illustrator and the frontman for Montreal/Edmonton duo the Famines, Raymond Biesinger is always surprising us with his interesting projects, most recently with his DIY tour-booking pamphlet called "How to Book a Maybe Successful Tour for a Band That Hasn't Received Hype on Pitchfork, etc." Now, he's opening up Edmonton's rich rock'n'roll history with a massive chart documenting 50 years of Edmonton music.

Biesinger explained the project with the following statement:

In 2008 we started combing through Edmonton's memory to make a chart and website about the city's music scene. Late last year, I decided to reopen the project and expand it, now covering the years 1950-2010. Yes, we've been making music a long long time.

The sprawling collection includes "at least 500 bands and 2,500 band members" spread across Edmonton's rock, pop and experimental past. The fascinating read can be scrolled through right here while an alphabetical list of all the bands involved is available http://www.fifteen.ca/thechart/infos/infos.html here.

If you would like the chart to take up a vast section of your home, you can also purchase it as a 26-foot paper copy for $20 plus shipping from Biesinger's Etsy page.
