The Famines

'Too Cool & Other Songs' (album stream)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 31, 2015

Hungry for some more music from Montreal garage rock unit the Famines? Well, you're in luck, as the outfit have served up more meaty numbers in the form of an LP titled Too Cool & Other Songs, which they just put up on Bandcamp.

The nine-song set was recorded in the summer of 2014, and features hot-wired and Hot Snakes-indebted blasts like "Too Cool" and "Hail to the Taxman." Interestingly, the snare-rolling "Fast Times" is one of the more relaxed tracks on the LP, though it's still flinging plenty of fuzz-fried licks our way.

While you'll have to purchase the set to hear it all, you can stream the bulk of the set down below.

The Famines have also offered up an audio-visual feast via a video for the title cut. Like the album cover, which you can see up above, it mixes cut-and-paste visuals referencing Roy Orbison, the Rolling Stones, Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Newman and more. You can peep the vid beneath the album stream.
