Fall Out Boy

"Jet Pack Blues"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 13, 2015

"Baby, come home." It's a familiar phrase to many, and carries a lot of emotional weight. For the guys in Fall Out Boy, it's a sad plea included in the latest single from their forthcoming American Beauty/American Psycho, "Jet Pack Blues."

Here, Patrick Stump takes charge of the mic with his familiar, sorrowfully soulful singing style, above church bells, textured drum production and more. Without spoiling too much, the lyrics revolve around a lady in a long black coat trying to get back her one and only, perhaps unsuccessfully given the visuals of a melody of tears working in conjunction with rhythmic rivulets of rain and Stump's assertions that "the sweetness never lasts, you know."
