Eminem Was Visited by the Secret Service over Anti-Trump Lyrics
He called Donald Trump "Donald Duck" and rapped about having Ivanka Trump trapped in the back of his car
The first hints of this occurrence appeared on the Kamikaze cut "The Ringer," where Em rapped, "'Cause Agent Orange just sent the Secret Service / To meet in person to see if I really think of hurtin' him / Or ask if I'm linked to terrorists / I said, 'Only when it comes to ink and lyricists.'"
To find out if this was true or not, BuzzFeed News filed a Freedom of Information Act request. The publication received full documentation confirming that Eminem was indeed visited by the Secret Service.
The investigation surrounded Eminem's Revival song "Framed," where he rapped, "Donald Duck's on as the Tonka Truck in the yard / But dog, how the fuck is Ivanka Trump in the trunk of my car? / Cause I feel somewhat responsible for the dumb little blonde girl / That motherfuckin ' baton twirler that got dumped in the pond / Second murder with no recollection of it."
According to the FOIA documents obtained by BuzzFeed, a "concerned citizen" supposedly contacted the Secret Service when Revival was released on December 15, 2017. But it turns out that the "concerned citizen" was actually a TMZ employee seeking comment on the matter. The Secret Service didn't respond, but launched an investigation instead.
Acting swiftly, the Secret Service reached out to Eminem's lawyers on December 20 and sat down with the rapper one month later on January 16, 2018. The interview surrounded the lyrics on "Framed," as well as Eminem's viral BET "coffee pot" rap.
"Mathers was familiar the song and began rap along with the interviewers as the verse was read," the write-up from the documents reads. "At the conclusion of the interview, Agents again offered to answer any questions. It was also explained that any additional questions about this investigation should be directed to the USSS [United States Secret Service] Office of Government and Public Affairs. Counsel then escorted Agents from Mather's office."
