Einstürzende Neubauten

½ Mensch

This DVD is interesting because Einstürzende Neubauten are interesting, not because anyone loaded it up with intriguing extras — they didn't, not a single one. Instead there are ten video performances by the long-time purveyors of true industrial noise (who use scrap metal and other abandoned refuse as instruments in their arrangements). The cuts primarily highlight the band, their unusual musical tools and dark theatrics — imagine a post-apocalyptic Stomp. Only two of the cuts wander into more traditional music video/art-film fare, but even those are genuinely unsettling. It's disappointing for the lack of interviews and bonus materials but a guaranteed conversation starter nonetheless. (Some Bizzare/Cherry Red/MVD)
