With families keeping their children home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dolly Parton is helping parents by offering her bedtime story reading services in a new livestream series titled "Goodnight with Dolly."
Selecting from her Imagination Library and streaming live from her YouTube channel, Parton will read books that are "all carefully chosen for their appropriate content at this moment in time."
She elaborated in the following statement:
This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while, but the timing never felt quite right. I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love. It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think.
The series is set to run for 10 weeks starting this Thursday (April 2). Parton has selected a number of titles to read, including two of her own books, I Am a Rainbow and Coat of Many Colors.
She'll also read Loren Long's There's a Hole in the Log on the Bottom of the Lake, Anna Dewdney's Llama Llama Red Pajama, Sophy Henn's Pass It On, Patty Lovell's Stand Tall, Molly Lou Mellon, Steve Breen's Violet the Pilot, Floyd Cooper's Max & The Tag-Along Moon, Matt de la Peña's Last Stop on Market Street, and The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper.
