Last month, Denzel Curry announced plans to deliver new album Melt My Eyez See Your Future, and he's now shared a new single with slowthai ahead of its release.
Curry and slowthai's latest team-up comes on "Zatoichi," named for the blind swordsman (and masseur) who stars in Japan's longest-running action film series.
In contrast with the screechy strings of the pair's 2019 single "Psycho," the Powers Pleasant-produced "Zatoichi" finds Curry and his collaborator maneuvering from hip-hop groove to breakbeat blitz with a flash of the blade.
Meanwhile, the single's Adrian Villagomez-directed video features a Canadian connection with the casting of Montreal-based dancer and performer Sophia Gaspard. In the clip, shot in Peru, Gaspard's character leads Curry through spiritual, sightless martial arts training.
While Melt My Eyez See Your Future has yet to receive a release date, Curry's forthcoming LP will feature also feature 6LACK, J.I.D, Kenny Beats, Robert Glasper, Karriem Riggins and more.
Curry last shared the collaborative Unlocked with Kenny Beats in 2020, while his most recent solo outing remains 2019's ZUU.
