Not unlike how their friends at Marvel brought a who's who of hip-hop artists to comic book covers, DC Comics has rounded up some of metal's most renowned players for a variant series of its own.
To mark the international launch of 2020 limited series Dark Nights: Death Metal, DC has tapped Megadeth, Ozzy Osbourne, Dream Theater, Ghost, Opeth, Lacuna Coil and Sepultura to appear on "Band Edition" variant covers.
The publisher explains that its seven selections "[represent] a cross-section of metal music from across genres and generations," with each special edition issue packing in "an introduction from the band and exclusive interview" alongside each respective cover appearance.
It appears headbanging collectors in Canada will be hard pressed to find the special issues within the country. DC notes that the "Band Edition" variant covers will be published monthly in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Turkey.
