Crystal Stilts Announce New Single, Plot Next Album for Early 2011

It's been two years since Brooklyn, NY indie pop peddlers Crystal Stilts dropped their acclaimed Alight the Night. In the time since, they've put out singles on Slumberland and Angular, but have remained relatively quiet in 2010. Apparently, they've been holed up working on new material, as they've announced a new single and album in the coming months.

Before they get into LP territory, the band have revealed details for another seven-inch single on Slumberland later this fall. On the A-side, the record will feature the track "Shake the Shackles," which the press release describes as "totally timeless and impossible to place anywhere but firmly in Crystal Stilts' own unique style," and on the flip will be "Magnetic Moon," which is pegged as "a bluesy chug that comes on like some lost swamp-pop classic."

Both songs are exclusive to the seven-inch single, but they're also described as "a great snapshot of where the band are now and a taster for their forthcoming album." Little else is known about that full-length record, but it's "due early 2011."

Shake the Shackles will be released on October 26. Brief snippets of each song can be streamed here.
