Canadian prog duo Crown Lands have announced their sophomore full-length. Fearless is out on March 31 through Spinefarm/Universal, and the band have shared the 18-minute track "Starlifter: Fearless Pt. II."
Crown Lands recorded the nine-track album at Universal's 80A Studio in Toronto with David Bottrill (a producer who has worked with Crown Lands' favourite band, Rush). The results are said to further embrace prog, following the more streamlined rock of their debut. Previously released tracks "Context: Fearless Pt. I" and "Right Way Back" appear on the album.
Singer-drummer Cody Bowles said in a statement about the lyrics, "These are themes that may sound like a mere fantastic tale to some, but we wanted to marry sci-fi elements with very real issues Indigenous people have gone through time and time again. I guess that would be called Indigenous futurism. I have always loved songs that give you more the more you lean into them, and there is a deeper meaning to this story if you look for it."
