Anchored by the twin sister team of Phoenix and Mercedes Arn-Horn, Kitchener's Courage My Love look to uplift and inspire with their brand of rock 'n' roll music. The sisters certainly aren't afraid to move beyond the electric guitar and the drumkit, as evidenced in their session with Exclaim! TV.
We met up with the two sisters at their hometown KOI Music Festival where they played us a cover version of the Smiths' "Asleep," a B-side from the iconic English act.
Beginning with a steady acoustic strum pattern, it isn't long before the sisters show off the strength of their vocal harmonies. The two carry the tune on into the chorus section on the strength of Mercedes' six-string and Phoenix's delicately plucked banjo, with their vocal registers reaching ever higher before bringing things down softly at the finish.
