Converge are in the studio at work on new material, as shown in a clip shot by drummer Ben Koller.

Shared by Koller on Instagram, the clip captures Kurt Ballou laying down some "new stuff" with bassist Nate Newton at the former's God City Studio.

Regrettably, there are no new sounds for this author to analyze — only the sweet, sweet tones of "Yakety Sax." You can take in the studio teaser below.

Koller delved into Converge's current happenings on Twitter X in May, sharing that there is "A LOT of new Converge material" and that the new disc "could be our best album yet."

"I feel like I'm at Old Country metalcore Buffet and all the foods are RIFFS," the drummer wrote. "It's all over the place. We have crowdkilling, Fugazi, Mars Volta, Entombed, mathcore madness, slow Nate riffs where I play too fast, shitty riffs, emo riffs… This could be our best album yet no joke. We should [probably] ditch the shitty riffs though."

"Hard to say what the finished product will be," Koller continued, "but I will say that this feels like the most evolved, natural and fully realized bunch of material we have ever written. It's tough to try and compare it to other albums. No Heroes feels like another lifetime at this point."

A new Converge album would mark the band's first since 2017's The Dusk in Us. In the time since, the band released 2021 collaborative album Bloodmoon: I with Chelsea Wolfe, while vocalist Jacob Bannon performed and recorded with Wear Your Wounds and heavy supergroup Umbra Vitae.
