The crowd aggressively surged towards the barrier as Halifax's kings of garage power pop, Cold Warps, stepped to the stage. Within seconds, skinny dudes were hoisted onto each other's shoulders, acrobatically thrown onto each other's heads for the crowd-surf-heavy 40-minute set. Running through the band's 7-inch back catalogue, the surprisingly barebones quartet attacked their gear like a modern-day Ramones, delivering punishing punk rock as the packed venue screamed along to every word out of Paul Hammond's mouth. If concert headliners Black Lips don't snag these guys for a subsequent Canadian tour, it is surely their loss.
