Chilly Gonzales and Boys Noize Team Up as Octave Minds, Premiere "In Silence"

BY Matthew RitchiePublished Jul 18, 2014

Canadian composer Chilly Gonzales is no stranger to collaboration, having previously partnered with Jamie Lidell, Feist and, more recently, Daft Punk. Now, it appears the classically trained pianist is adding another electronic collaborator to his belt: Berlin producer Boys Noize.

So far, there's not tons of info about the newly launched project, but the pair are going by the name Octave Minds. They've also shared their debut track "In Silence," which you can listen to at the bottom of the page.

The effortless sounding composition starts of with a pair of simple but effective repeating piano phrases. As the song progresses, a soulful vocal melody wades its way into the mix, before Gonzales silences it with a meandering yet meticulous ivory excursion and some twinkling keyboards.

The duo's debut disc is expected to drop worldwide sometime in September through Boysnoize Records. Until then, get acquainted with the group by listening to their four-minute long introduction at the bottom of the page.
