Last February, Britney Spears inked a $15 million book deal with Simon & Shuster imprint Gallery Books in the wake of being freed from her 13-year conservatorship in November 2021.
"Shall I start from THE BEGINNING???" the pop star wrote in the caption of an Instagram post featuring a typewriter knick-knack at the time — and now we finally have a release date for the memoir.
Titled The Woman in Me, Spears's tell-all will be published on October 24. It is currently available for pre-order.
The memoir is billed as a "brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope," and promises to illuminate the "strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history."
"Britney's compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery," Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom told People. "I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn't be more proud to help her share her story at last."
In June 2021, Spears spoke out about her conservatorship battle with her father, Jamie Spears, for the first time. "I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive," she told the court of the arrangement, which was put into place in 2008 when the pop star was publicly struggling with her mental health.
