Britney Spears Deactivates Instagram Account

Amid the ongoing battle to end her 13-year conservatorship and her recent engagement to fiancé Sam Asghari, Britney Spears has taken a break from social media, deactivating her Instagram account — the primary avenue Spears uses to communicate with fans.

Apparently, the move was of Spears' own doing, as confirmed by her attorney Mathew Rosengart to Page Six, which also reports that sources close to the singer say she is "in a great place."

"Silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message," the insider told the publication. "This was her decision."

However, as TMZ points out, it's possible that the singer's often-outlandish posts were taken down temporarily in order to sway judgement in her favour in her ongoing legal troubles. Spears is slated to appear at a hearing concerning her conservatorship on September 29, regarding whether her father Jamie should be removed from the arrangement.

Despite having just posted news about her engagement on Monday (September 13), Spears offered no warning prior to deactivation. Meanwhile, Asghari's profile remains active, so fans can still get updates about the couple's goings-on.

Best of luck to Spears, and here's hoping she can return to social media as soon as she is comfortable enough to do so.
