Blur and Oasis Collaborate On Music Cheese!

Mortal enemies back in the 1990s at the height of Britpop, members of Blur and Oasis are currently collaborating together, not on music but on cheese. Yes, the dairy product!

Just weeks after the BBC announced it would be looking to assemble an all Britpop cast for a special episode of The Weakest Link comes news of this odd partnership. Blur bassist Alex James, who doubles as a dairy farmer in his spare time, has reportedly persuaded Blur/Gorillaz/The Good the Bad & the Queen front-man Damon Albarn to team up with Oasis' Gallagher brothers to make a commemorative block of stilton cheese for the Brit Awards, which take place at London's Earls Court on February 20. The idea is to serve it up as a savoury alternative to the sweet dessert served at the ceremony.

A source close to James told the Daily Star that "Damon and Alex have always been enthusiastic about cheese. But it wasn't until recently that Alex discovered Liam and Noel shared their obsession. So he had the masterplan of creating something constructive through the medium of cheese, which would mark their maturity."

And before you begin naming off "cheesy" titles for the product, the bands have beat everyone to the punch. The stilton has a working title of "A Country Roll (With It)" - an amusing nod to the great Britpop feud of '95, where Blur's "Country House" single took on Oasis' "Roll With It" in a media-heavy chart showdown.
