Bloc Party's Kele Okereke has been pretty busy. On top of releasing solo record The Flames Pt. 2 late last month, Bloc Party is set to open for Paramore on tour this summer. Apparently, none of this has stopped the band from making new music that Okereke is "excited" about.

Speaking with NME for the In Conversation series, the dance punk's bandleader made it known that Bloc Party are currently in the process of writing new material. "We, Bloc Party, have been writing in the last week," Okereke said. "We have made a lot of music over the years and we're going to make more. We are writing at the moment and it feels exciting."

When asked about the legacy of the Bloc Party's first album, 2005's Silent Alarm, he hammered home his forward-thinking attitude of the band: "When I hear any record that we've made, I kind of hear the things that I'd do differently if I had the opportunity to do them again, and that's the same with [Silent Alarm]."

Okereke's ongoing enthusiasm for the project matches prior sentiments he made to the UK music publication, saying that he's "more excited about the energy that the band has right now" than he is about their footprint.

At present, Bloc Party's most recent effort remains last year's Alpha Games
