Beck Gets Dave Grohl, Tenacious D for Impromptu Yacht Rock Supergroup

They covered "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Crofts to let us know everything's all right

Beck doesn't want to live with any more regrets like his denial of "Weird Al" Yankovic's "Loser" parody. Thusly, the hat-loving musician did not so much as hesitate at the idea of forming a yacht rock supergroup with Dave Grohl and Tenacious D to perform an impromptu cover of "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Crofts.

The once-in-a-lifetime incident took place at a special benefit concert hosted by Judd Apatow last night (August 16) at the famed Los Angeles venue Largo. Beck was scheduled to perform accompanied by acclaimed producer Greg Kurstin on the piano at the show, which was benefitting Victims First; but more people began to appear onstage. And not just any people: Jack Black and Kyle Gass's comedy rock duo, actor/singer John C. Reilly and, eventually, Dave Grohl.

For the hodge-podge assembly's rendition of "Summer Breeze," Grohl stepped up to the mic to deliver a stirring vocalization of the lead guitar line — or, "yacht rock musical sound effects," as per the man himself.

You can bear witness to this strange conspiring of supernatural soft rock forces via a four-minute video posted to Largo's Instagram below.
